Guest Designer – April 29 – Coffee Loving Papercrafters

It’s the last Friday of the month, we’re so happy to have our April Guest Designer, Carrie with us today. We’ll be doing a round up of all of her amazing projects at the end of the post!

How many of you make a face like this before you’ve had your coffee? I am positive that all the kids who resided in my home saw this face multiple times in the morning. Most of you know how this caffeinated chameleon feels, which is why I couldn’t resist sharing this project with you today.

This card is such a fun, fresh design. When I purchased the stamp set, I honestly had no idea what I was going to make. Those caffeinated critters from The Rabbit Hole Designs are so much fun, but this little lizard was one of my favorites.

Behind the stamped image, I created lots of layers and textures. I have a background created with Distress Oxide Sprays, a brick stencil design, and some leaf die cuts sprayed to match the back panel.

Although the layers are a bit unusual for a cartoon character, they came together like the ingredients in my coffee. It all worked perfectly. The texture paste brick gives a rustic geometric design, and the leaves create a soft layer for the chameleon to sit upon.

With so many green hues in the background, I needed to choose another color for the lizard. I wanted to remain within the same color palette, so I selected turquoise blue and turquoise green alcohol markers to create a blend of colors on the image.

I think the chameleon turned out super cute, don’t you? The combination of blues and greens couples well with the other elements on the card. If you would like to watch how this all came together, I have a process video for you to enjoy.
