Hello Coffee Lovers!
It’s time for Brew & Craft Your Stash and time to get our crafty inspiration from a new magazine, or in this case two magazines!! We are looking for inspiration from Paper Crafters Handmade Cards and Card Creations for Him! Both are from 2013!
Both magazines are organized into sections, Card Creations for Him have Smart & Geeky, Casual & Playful, Hip & Urban, Rough & Tumble, Classic & Refined. Handmade Cards sections are geared more toward paper crafting supplies, it has Basic Supplies, Ready-Made Embellishments, Stickers & Tape, Fabric & Fibers, Color Media, General Craft Supplies, Metal, Wood & Cork, Around the House, Maximize your Supplies. Each section in both magazines has several cards per section.
I’ll be starting with Card Creations for Him, with the Smart & Geeky section and getting my inspiration from the first pages in that section, then move to the next page, etc. I’ll do the same for the Handmade Cards magazine. I will alternate between the magazines, so every other post will be a coffee card for him!!
Today, I’m going to start with Card Creations for Him, Smart & Geeky, the first two pages for this section have three cards! Two are space-themed and one is computer-themed! Very smart & geeky!!! So I went with the space theme for my inspiration, which turned out the great timing as I just received some new coffee goodies from Trinity Stamps and I have a project planned for the near future that combines space and coffee, so I already had the supplies to whip up coffee & space card for this post!
I started by making a space background with some distress inks, first adding blue, green, and purple areas. Then I covered it all with black soot ink. Next, I added water spatters in two steps. First splatters I dabbed off shortly after adding them. When they were dry I added more, but let them stay wet for longer, this lightens up the ink splotches.
Next, I used Trinity’s Interplanetary Stencil along with Distress Oxide inks to ink up a couple of planets. With the Black Soot ink, I covered the planets to blur them a little. Last, I used some white acrylic paint to splatter white ‘stars’ all over the panel, and then see it aside to dry.
Trinity included a cute little coffee cup freebie in my package and it was the perfect size for my card. I cut the main cup and lid from white card stock and the wrap in black. I used blue distress ink to color the cup and then adhered the lid. For the wrap, I used Doodlebug’s Far Out stamp set to stamp the Have a Blast in white embossing powder.
I cut a strip of black card stock and used the birthday sentiment from the Far Out stamp set and white heat embossed that too! By this time my background was dry and I added it to a black card base, added the sentiment strip and coffee cup with foam tape!
And there you have it a fun coffee Smart & Geeky card!! Thanks so much for stopping by!!
