Guest Designer – April 2 – Coffee Loving Papercrafters

Hi Everybody, it’s Amy @card.chick on Instagram. I’m super excited to be guest designing on Coffee Loving Cardmakers for the month of April! Coffee + Cardmaking = All kinds of heart emojis. I really can’t think of a more perfect combo.

I got into cardmaking about 5 years ago. This hobby first started because my sister shared a woodblock stamp with me which I used to stamp tags for my baby shower treats. After that first stamping experience, I was hooked! Cardmaking has also become the perfect complement to my motto in life, which is to give thanks and to show my appreciation freely and consistently. The more cards I make and give, the more thanks, appreciation and celebration I can share with my family, friends and coworkers. I have given out hundreds of my handmade cards over the years which has made cardmaking a very meaningful hobby to me in so many ways.

For my first guest designer card, I used this cute little gopher image from Gerda Steiner Designs “Gopher It” stamp set. I used a My Favorite Things star die to cut out two star pieces, one to ink blend (Squeezed Lemonade distress oxide ink for the sky and Walnut Stain distress oxide ink for the ground) and the other star out of pattern paper to give the card more interest. I used copic markers to color the gopher and coffee cup.

When I assembled this 4” x 5.25“ card, I glued the pattern paper star onto the base card, slightly offset. I popped the gopher and the yellow star right on top with foam squares to give the card some dimension. The sentiment was stamped on gray cardstock and adhered with foam squares which I then placed on the top and bottom of the image to frame the little gopher. I think this is the perfect card to invite a friend that you haven’t seen in a while for some coffee. What do you think?
