Hi there, Christine here. Years ago, I made a card with a Christmas tree that was covered in coffee cup embellishments, and while today’s tree is not a standard tree, I wanted to include coffee cups on it. The end result is an interactive slimline slider card using products from Super Sponsor Trinity Stamps. I usually try to have coffee be the focus of the card, but today’s card has coffee as a decorative accent. I used the Trinity Stamps Treemendous stamp & die set, Shine Brighter stencil set and the Slimline Surprises die set to create the card.
I die cut the slider mechanism out of 110lb Neenah solar white cardstock and heavy weight acetate (Lawn Fawn). I ink blended several distress oxide inks onto the panel: new color rustic wilderness, dusty concord and chipped sapphire. I was going to heat emboss onto the acetate, but instead used Dreamweaver metallic gold embossing paste on the Shine Brighter stencil set ; I did the same with the ink blended panel and set both pieces off to the side to dry. I had originally intended to use coffee at the top of the tree, like I’m using my watermark below, but I couldn’t get it to look right, so I didn’t end up using it.
I prepared the elements and sentiments and did some simple copic coloring. I also die cut a tag/slider element that was inspired by Jenny Hall’s (on the Trinity Stamp Design Team) use of the tag. I added a gold ribbon to easily pull the tab. You can also add a gift card for a coffee shop like I did in the photo below.
I hope that I inspired you to use coffee elements where they were originally not intended to be used. I think coffee is always something to celebrate. Wishing you a crafty and caffeinated day!
