Challenge #45 – Add Glitter to Die Cuts. The magazine’s designers added glitter to word dies, flower die and a lattice die. The last card cut a die cut shape from glitter cardstock.
Last week I took a peek at this challenge and after thinking about it I knew what I wanted to do! So yesterday I sat down and started working on my idea. But, I didn’t take into account the drying time of my die cut coffee cup. In fact I had forgotten all about adding glitter to a die cut and since my coffee cup wouldn’t be dry in time, I went on to make another card for today’s post! Of course when I sat down to do up this post I remembered that a die cut was apart of the challenge! Nothing I can do about it now!! But, I will use my glittered die cut on a future card!!
I decided to use the same technique I used in my last post, adding glitter to transparent paste. First, I added the glitter paste to my coffee die cut, kind of like icing a cake!! That’s when I new it would take some time to dry! I had a little bit glitter paste left over, so I pulled out a teal card base and Funky Fossil Nordic Star Background stencil.
While the background dried, I pulled out Paper Smooches Caffeinated and the matching die set. I cut and stamped the image on watercolor cardstock. Then I used a Distress Marker and a water brush to color the cup. Next, I found some pretty cosmic pattern paper, stamping the cozy part of the stamp. Then I fussy cut it out and added it to the cup. I also stamped and fussy cut the cute eyeglass image from the Caffeinated set.
From some purple card stock I stamped and black heat embossed the sentiment Mochachocaloveyoualatte. I also added the cute eyeglasses to the coffee cup.
Next, I adhered the coffee cup and sentiment to the card base on top of the dried glitter paste. Then I found a few matching rhinestones and adhered them across the card.
Thanks so much for stopping by! I hope this encourages you to try using the glitter I know you have in your stash!!
