Hello!! It’s Dana here with Brew & Craft Your Stash!! We are looking at Wood today!! If this is the first time you are seeing my feature or need a refresher, click here for my very first post, it gives a little background explanation of my feature!

We are taking a look at the creating with product section in Paper Crafting Tips & Tricks Magazine, 2012. Today we are covering crafting with Wood!! Nowadays there are lots of different wood products, wood sheets, balsa wood, and different wood veneer shapes! Julie Campbell has some great ideas for using wood on your cards!

• Adhere wood shapes to stick pins for a unique embellishment
• Cluster small wood veneer shapes to create a bigger shape
• Die cut a wood sheet or balsa wood
• Stamp patterns or images on wood shapes
• Break out those rub-on and apply them to wood shapes
• Change the color wood shapes with ink, paint or ink spray.

In my stash, I just have a few wood veneer shapes, but I pulled out a packet of stars to use. I was looking at my messy desk when I found some leftover cut felt. An idea was forming in my head! I started by die cutting a stitched rectangle and then making a card base from red cardstock.

On the rectangle, I adhered some white felt chevrons, these where leftovers or basically the positive shapes from a Papertrey Ink Chevron background die. I trimmed a few here and there that hung over the edge.

Next, I started placing the wood stars between the bars. Before long I realized I had a bit of a pattern going with the stars!!

From Joy Clair Coffee Lover stamp set I stamped the coffee mug in black ink, then stamped a heart in red ink in the center. I also stamped the Coffee sentiment. Then I fussy cut both the mug and sentiment.

I adhered the mug and sentiment directly to the felt and then added the panel to the red card base. I kept the image and sentiment plain since the action is in the background!
