Hello Coffee Fans!! Dana here with a new installment of Brew & Craft Your Stash!! I have some great ideas for using Sentiment Stamps. If this is the first time you are seeing my feature or need a refresher, click here for my very first post, it gives a little background explanation on my feature!!
The next section in Paper Crafting Tips & Techniques magazine is Stamping Techniques and today we are looking at Sentiment Stamps! Betsy Veldman is up again with some awesome ideas for using sentiments!!
- Use the sentiments to create basic shapes like stars, circles or squares
- Sentiments don’t have to be perfect, stamp off center or just off the edge
- Stamp smaller sentiments inside bigger sentiments
- Make your own subway art with different sentiments
- Layer elements with your sentiment for a unique accent
- Use the sentiment as a flower stem or balloon tail
For my card today I went the way of subway art, kind of… I masked off a rectangle but really couldn’t fit a lot of sentiments inside, so I figured it would look too bad to have some be cut off with the mask. Before lifting the mask I added some Antique Linen to my rectangle to lightly darken the stamped rectangle.
I did use some pattern paper, but with a very light snowflake pattern but it’s so light you can’t tell!! But it went great with the brown sentiment stamps. I used My Favorite Things Stay Cool stamp set for the sentiment background.
Next, I pulled out Waffle Flower’s Hello Stampurr set and stamped the curled up kitten, the stack of books, box and coffee cup. I stamped them on watercolor cardstock and then used just a couple of Distress Markers to color them. Using Tea Dye, Gathered Twigs and Candied Apple I kept it simple and monochromatic-ish look to the coloring.
With scissors, I fussy cut out all the images and added them to the card at the bottom of the sentiment rectangle with foam tape. The warm color makes me want to curl up with a blanket, a book and some hot coffee or hmm maybe some hot cider…. lol!!
Thanks so much for stopping by!! I hope this inspires you to take a new look at your coffee themed sentiments!!!
