The summer blog hop is over, but summer is just getting cranked up. SugarPea Designs was a lovely super sponsor and I just happened to have their new release, The Perfect Blend. I thought it would be fun to pair it up with a sweet little mermaid who is all about her coffee.
I’ve chosen to mix two paper collections from Doodlebug Design; Under The Sea and Cream and Sugar. Notice my coffee bean sand? My mermaid is one of the cardstock stickers so I’ve added a paper backing and popped her out on foam tape, wrapping her waist in some pink glitter twine. All my adhesives are by Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L, another wonderful super sponsor of our recent blog hop.
For my sentiment, I used my Misti and stamped it three times for full coverage. Next, I pulled out my Kaisercraft glitter pens and colored over the word “coffee” with my copper glitter pen, giving it some sparkle and shine.
I think coffee and mermaids are a match made in Heaven. Don’t you?
Now, for some Coffee Buzz news…. (Photo credit: perfectdailygrind.com)

Have you ever wondered what goes into those amazing coffee designs on your cappuccino? There’s a whole lot of science behind it, starting with the type of milk. Each farm that produces milk has a different fat content, protein, sweetness even. It starts with what the cows eat, the fat content of the milk, how the milk is treated, the temperature that the milk is steamed and so on. Who knew? Milk from jersey cows is highly desirable for use in specialty coffees. If you’re one who likes to experiment at home, be sure you’re not over steaming the milk. It’ll lead to a loss of nutritional value, and unappealing flavor compounds in the milk. There’s a whole lot of information on this subject and you can read the full article, here.
Thanks for popping in today. If you’d like links to the products that I used today, please visit my blog post at Waving My Wand. Have a great week!
