Hello, Coffee & Tea Lovers!!
Dana here with a new installment of Brew & Craft Your Stash!! Grab your coffee or tea and read on for some awesome ideas for Baker’s Twine!! If this is the first time you are seeing my feature or need a refresher, click here for my first post, it gives a little background explanation on my feature!!!
My last blog post was looking at DIY Flowers in the Bonus section in 2012 Paper Crafting Tips & Tricks magazine. It’s time to start back at the Creating with Product section, technically the next idea in this section is Around the House, but living on campus means everything I have has a purpose and I sure don’t have a junk drawer to find some unique thing to use on a card. So I moved onto Baker’s Twine, … that I DO have!! Designer Layle Koncar has a few ideas on how to use Baker’s, Twine!
- Use liquid adhesive to write words with the twine
- Add some texture by outlining shapes
- Make a border with your twine and paper shapes
- Create fringe with the twine
- Wrap chipboard letters and shapes for unique embellishments
- Underline a sentiment with a line of twine
So I got out my Baker’s Twine from The Twinery and star dies from My Favorite Things. I found some pattern paper that looked like linen and traced the stars on. Then I just penciled in dots about ever 1/4 or so, just eye-balling it. With my paper piercer, I pierced holes where I had dots. When that was I done I erased my lines.
Then I threaded a need with twine and went about stitching the stars. I decided to fill in the stars some, rather than outline them. I used Pink Sorbet, Lilac and Caribbean colors for my stars.
When my stitching was done I stamped the coffee cup from Essentials by Ellen Oh Frappe stamp set. With my Spectrum Noir Markers, I colored it to match my twine stars. Then I just fussy cut it out.
For a sentiment I stamped Let’s Talk Some Frap (I just love that sentiment!!) in brown ink, then I decided to stamp it again in pink ink. I trimmed the Let’s Talk Some and Frap notching the ends. I added my coffee cup and sentiments flags with foam tape on my panel and then added it to a white card base.
I hope this inspires you do use that baker’s twine you have in your stash! I really need to use it more often!!
Thanks for stopping by!!
Dana
