Coffee Buzz With Terri – Easter Critters

coffee-buzz-slider

We’re in the final countdown to Easter, so of course, I had to make a fun Easter card for my project this week.  I’m using my Cricut Explore and have a free design space file for you, so stick around for a few minutes.  I’ll be quick!  Plus, I’m sharing my cool coffee shop find on a recent trip to Tennessee.

Here’s a few brief card details – my background was stenciled and heat embossed using the resist technique for my distress ink, on watercolor paper.  My critters are from Stampendous and my sentiment is from Unity Stamps “Everything Easter“.  I wanted to incorporate shaker elements so I created a Cricut design space file with some circle cutouts itty bitty coffee cups and a slightly larger cup for my critters to hold.  I’m using Zig clean color markers for my critters.

Here’s a screenshot of the file I made.  I also added an easter egg, although I chose not to use it.  Instead, I added some floral frames to my circles.

I cut out a whole bunch of mini coffee cups, to use as shaker pieces, and colored them with my Tombow dual brush markers.  It took about a minute to color all those cups.  The quickest way to do this is leave your entire paper on the cutting mat after it’s finished cutting.  Grab a black marker and color all the lids, quickly in assembly line format.  It doesn’t have to be pretty.  Just a quick swipe.  It doesn’t matter if you color outside the lines because our image is already cut.  This is the reason to leave your paper on the mat…so you can color quickly and outside the lines!  Next grab, your beige marker and swipe, swipe, swipe.  See how quick that was?

I also used Doodlebug Design Under the Sea papers for my cups.  I cut multiples of the larger cups on white cardstock and the Doodlebug papers, then swiped my black Tombow for the lid, and paper pieced the Doodlebug paper cuts.

Here’s a free Design Space cut file for you to use, so you can cut little mini shaker cups for yourself.  This is only for use with the Cricut Explore and is free.

Before I go, here’s a little Coffee Buzz news….have you ever been to Chattanooga, TN?  We visited recently and randomly stumbled on The Stone Cup.  Oh my.

If I’ve ever ordered a Breve before, I certainly don’t remember.  So I tried one, spending the next 5 to 10 minutes rolling my eyes in the back of my head, nodding in disbelief and wishing I could have one, every. single. day.  It was that good.  So, what is a breve? Espresso and steamed CREAM.  Yes, cream.  Let’s not talk about calories.  Needless to say, it’s a good thing that I can’t have one every day.  If you’re ever in the area though, it’s totally worth a trip to The Stone Cup, across the river from the Tennessee Aquarium.

Is there a cool little coffee shop in your neck of the woods?  Tell us in the comment section. We coffee lovers love discovering new shops on our travels and with spring breaks and summer vacations on the horizon, it’s a great time for new coffee adventures.

I hope you all have a glorious Easter and lovely weather and that you find some caffeinated goodies in your Easter basket!

I love this card! Breve is awesome but next time you are at Sbux (maybe other places have it too) order heavy whipping cream and you will think you have died and gone to heaven. That cream makes not having sugar so worth it! 🙂
