Thursday Coffee Break: Cardmaking Techniques

Good Morning Coffee Loving Cardmakers! It is Thursday and it’s time to take a little break with me, Helen, again 🙂 Grab your favorite drinks and let’s talk about your favorite cardmaking techniques.

The Fall Coffee Lovers Blog Hop was totally amazing and full of inspirations. I saw so many cardmaking (tag making, too) techniques shown by all the participants. I did several cardmaking techniques, some are new for me to try, some are my favorites.

On Day 1 I used wet-on-wet watercolor on the cup to blend the colors, and color layering stamping for the leaves:

Day 2, I did a mixed media card with some homemade modeling paste, stencil, and watercoloring, and stamping:

Day 3, I did simple CAS card with Ombre Ink, stamp, and fussy cutting on this card:

Day 4, I combined diecutting, stamping and embellishments:

Day 5 is simply stamping and watercoloring technique to create this card:

Day 6, it is all about digital stamps and images. I created 4 cards that I shared on my blog, but on this one, I created the background with some stamping and white gesso. So technically, we can call this a mixed media card, right? 🙂

On Day 7, I did some stamping, watercoloring and embossing on vellum:

And on the last day of blog hop, Day 8, I did faux watercoloring with dye ink for the background. This is a quick technique with your dye inks in hand and some water. You can do this even on regular cardstock since it is only used spray of water on the inked stamp:

So, share with us what is your favorite cardmaking technique? What is a new technique that you’d love to try? We would love to hear your ideas 🙂

THANKS A LATTE for sharing with us and visiting today!

You knocked my socks off with these wonderful projects!!! 😀 I love everything! However I am not very good at mixed media, so usually I stick with simple stamping, and my favorite is watercolor either with real watercolor or spritz inked stamp with water.

What a beautiful assortment of coffee-themed cards, Helen! Like Cindy, I find mixed media (and water-colouring, in general) challenging, so I’m a stamping or distress-ink blending designer. Sometimes, I do the ‘spritz’ thing but…inks, stamps and diecuts are my ‘go to’ items. Thank you for the coffee smiles today!

I loved all your creations in the hop. Loved the backgrounds…I’m a background junkie for sure. I just wish I would have been able to play more with the hop- I was just too sick before and during to do anything…

All of these cards are fabulous
and each so different. What a great
mix of techniques! I’d like to try using pastes
and stencils more. I’d also like to try stamping
and coloring on vellum more-it is such a pretty
    technique.
