July 19: Guest Designer

GuestDesignerSlider

We’re on Week Three with the talented Terri Burson as our July Guest Designer!

It’s Tuesday and time for another guest design project for Coffee Loving Cardmakers.  Today, it’s all about the power of three.  I often like to choose only 3 colors for a project.  To me, it’s a way of simplifying and not overthinking or cluttering up a project, particularly if you are coloring a detailed design.

I’ve had Christmas in July on my mind.  One, because I love Christmas and Hallmark Christmas movies have been playing all week, and two, because I will use any excuse to start playing Christmas music early!  So, I was thumbing through this Christmas coloring book that I received last year and stumbled on this page in the book that has some fun coffee/tea cup images to color.  Who knew?

I chose 3 Tombow dual brush markers to color my cup; brown, pink and yellow.  I also just got back from the Scrapbook Expo and snagged these gorgeous glitter pens and pastel pens from Kaisercraft, so I thought it would be fun to add some steamy, glittery bubbles with 3 of the glitter pens, also, brown, pink and yellow.  Are you following my theme now?

I drew my bubbles, then colored them in with the glitter pens.  Gosh, they are so sparkly and shiny in person.  My white gel pen is a staple on many of my projects.  It can perk up a colored image even more by adding additional details and as you can see, I added lots of detail to my cup and steamy bubbles, as well.  Lastly, I added a sentiment that I’m sure many of us can identify with, from So Suzy Stamps, one of the generous sponsors here at CLCM.  You can grab that here.
